Inter Miami fans asked Beckham to buy a player who cried all his tears for Messi

David Beckham has signed many of Messi’s former teammates but fans still want a World Cup winner in the Inter Miami squad.

On social networks, Inter Miami fans are asking Beckham to reunite Messi with Papu Gomez. The two spent many years working side by side in the Argentina national team and together won the 2022 World Cup as well as the 2021 Copa America.

Sevilla terminated Papu Gomez’s contract ahead of time, just a few hours before the summer transfer window ended. The 35-year-old midfielder is currently not being looked at by any team in Europe and Inter Miami fans believe that this is an opportunity for Messi to reunite with his former teammate in Argentina.

“Papu Gomez is a free agent. If David Beckham doesn’t bring him to Inter Miami, I will be extremely disappointed,” one person wrote on Twitter. “Papu Gomez went to Inter Miami and we have two top Argentine technicians, Messi and Gomez,” another commented. “This is the perfect time for Messi to meet Gomez again who cried all his tears for him,” another notable comment.

Papu Gomez attracted attention in an interview with La Nacion newspaper a while ago. In it, Gomez recounted Messi’s emotional speech before the Copa America final 2021: “Before the final, Messi spoke in front of the whole team. I don’t remember exactly what he said because I cried like I’ve never cried before. Messi mentioned determination, effort, and family. I sat down and cried like a child.”

Some Inter Miami fans think that if Papu Gomez joins the American team, he needs to bring lots of tissues to wipe away his tears. The peak period of this small midfielder was at Atalanta (2014-2021) with 252 games and 59 goals. Papu Gomez also has 17 caps for Argentina, scoring 3 goals.
